I've been an engineer at Chef for almost 5 years now, and have had a hand in much of the Chef Server along with being one of the architects of Chef Push Jobs. I'm really excited that we've been able to open source so much of the core system, and I've moved over open source community team to continue working on Push Jobs and help build the open source community around Chef Server and Push.
