Rachel joined Ignition as a principal in 2013, where she sources deals in enterprise and cloud infrastructure, Big Data and the Internet of Things. At Ignition, Rachel also advises portfolio companies and provides counsel on industry trends.

Prior to Ignition, Rachel worked for 13 years at the 451 Group, an independent technology industry analyst firm focused on the business of enterprise IT innovation. She was most recently the company’s VP of research, overseeing all work on enterprise infrastructure software. Her coverage areas included hypervisors, operating systems, provisioning and automation, application development, performance monitoring and lifecycle management. While at 451, Rachel was among the first analysts to cover Opsware, BladeLogic, VMware, Splunk and Cloudera.

A noted author and speaker on enterprise-IT topics, she specializes in studying software companies solving complicated and urgent business problems. Rachel received a BA degree in English from the University of Sydney and a master’s in philosophy, with a focus on Anglo-Irish literature from Trinity College, Dublin. She is also an advisor to the Ada Initiative, a non-profit that supports women in open technology and culture.
